Chilled Beams in Adelaide

When the new 26 level City Central Tower 1 in Adelaide CBD becomes operational in late 2006, it will boast chilled beam technology that allow it to capture a 5 Green Star Rating – The highest environmental rating accolade possible.

Envirospray 300 was used as the preferred acoustic solution to coat over 27000m2 of concrete soffit over 20 levels of open plan offices.

Applied in a “Steel Grey” at a nominal 40mm thickness to achieve an NRC 0.85, Envirospray 300 is almost invisible when viewed through the perforated drop in metal tile ceiling, offering the perfect marriage between architectural, acoustic and cost specifications.

The Builders are Baulderstone Hornibrook, the Architects are Woods Bagot and the Acoustic Consultants are Vipac Engineers, all based in Adelaide SA.

Gymnasiums get sound Treatment

The John Edmunson High School at Hoxton Park and The Glenwood High School (both in Sydney) have identical basketball court / gymnasiums with identical problems – The incredible echo! echo! echo! echo!

As the halls are multi purpose and used for music & drama, the reverberation time of over 2.5 seconds was unacceptable.

Envirospray 300 at a nominal thickness of 40mm was installed to two side walls and the rear wall, to cover an area of just 250m2, and the problem was solved!

The reverberation time has dropped to 1.4 secs, just within the acceptable range and the finer points of Romeo & Juliet can now be easily heard and understood by all the audience.

The Largest Insulation Project

Westfields, the Shopping Centre giants do not believe in half measures. The recently opened Tugerrrah Marketown, required Enviro-Acoustics to install 16500m2 of underslab insulation, with an average daily rate of 300m2 – just to keep within the construction program!

The engineered system was 70mm of SL grade polystyrene foil faced with heavy duty sarking, partly fixed using an inhouse manufactured Zed Clip fixing bracket, that is fast and invisible. Other areas required Hilti one way mushroom pins that we imported from Germany, specially for the project.

The Contracts Manager was Terry (The Terrible) Thirukumar.

All is Quiet in the new Volkswagon Showroom

The new VW Centre at Hawthorn Victoria received a stunning 50mm thick ENVIROSPRAY 300 finish to the workshop areas to achieve the quietest working environment possible, as demonstrated in the all new Passat V6 cars.

True to German efficency, the 2000 m2 application was installed solely with a view of obtaining higher work productivity by the creation of an inspiring work environment
